Alan started programming in High School after a friend convinced him to drop a Microsoft Office beginners course and get into programming. He started with Turbo Pascal which helped him discover his love for programming.

He graduated from the University of Michigan with a degree in CS. After a few internships he started a job at Twillio. While working there, Alan discovered the the Go programming language. In an effort to learn the language, he began recreating one of his friends projects. This project turned into what is now Alan’s full time development project and business, ngrok.
